It has been brought to my attention that there has been a few issues for some trying to register or login to the site.

Please read entries below. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.


Login Problems

Trouble logging in is often due to a caching error. Please try clearing your browser's cache and cookies. For instructions, just follow this link:

You may also need to disable any autocompleting or saved passwords in your browser.

If the issue persists, please try using a different browser to determine if the issue is browser-specific.

Confirmation Emails not received.

Usually not a bug but a problem with email provider. Some users may be experiencing a problem with their particular sites, however.

Members are trying to sign up and everything seems fine, but the confirmation email does not appear in their email inbox.

Have the member look in their spam or bulk mail folder. If the email is not there, they may need to use a different email provider, such as gmail or yahoo. Unfortunately, some email providers block all such emails before they even hit the users' inboxes or spam folders, in an attempt to reduce spam. We cannot force these emails through. If this is your members' issue, they will need to use a different email provider.

You can test it, of course, by creating a new Yahoo! account and signing up on your site with the test email address, to see that you will indeed receive the confirmation email.

Unresolved, cause of error located.

Site visitors attempt to sign up to join the site and get this error message.

The problem is caused by using Uppercase letters in the email address when signing up for a WebsID.

No solution yet, but the issue has been given to the engineers and has a high priority, so should be resolved fairly soon.

In the meantime, you can ask your site visitors to use only LOWER case letters for their email address when signing in.

If You Remove Your Account

Once a member is deleted or removed from a site, they'll need to wait a total of 5 days until they attempt to register again.

Attempting to register again within that 5-Day period will send that member into the "Pending Approval Loop" as well.

They'll need to wait a total of 5 days from the last time they attempted to login/register then they should be able to access.

Members Added Successfully, then Vanish

Unresolved, not yet reproduced.

Members are added, complete their profile, and show up in the Members page. At some point later, they are removed from the page, and the site owner and member are not sure why.

Please note that if the member clicks on the link to unsubscribe from a mailing list when they get notifications and/or updates from the site, they will be unsubscribing from the SITE itself! And not able to join again for five days.

Please alert your members to this possibility. If a member reports that they cannot rejoin your site, find out if they clicked on that "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of an email. If they did, they must wait at least 5 days before they can join your site again.

If this has not happened, yet the member disappears, we need information:

  • member email address

  • site address

  • approximate time the member joined

  • please let us know if this happens JUST AFTER sending out an email blast for the site

We suspect the users' email providers may be running some blocking software that automatically unsubscribes the member once an email blast is received.
